A fuel-cell is a kind of battery. When Sir William Grove invented the first one in 1839 he called it a gas-battery. All other types of batteries store an electrical charge. A fuel-cell does not.
Instead it has a tank of fuel--hydrogen. As long as hydrogen is flowing through it it produces electricity (and its only emission is pure water, so it does not damage the planet or people).
No recharging is needed. You just refill the gas-tank, or replace the empty one with a full one.
A single fuel-cell does not produce much power, but because it is just two plates separated by a membrane it is very thin, so it is easy to bolt several together into a 'stack', such as the fuel-cell stacks pictured here. And, like any battery, you can connect fuel-cell stacks for more power. For instance, if you wanted 15kW, you could connect three 5kW stacks, or two 6kW stacks & a 3kW.

PEM Fuel-Cell Stacks
h-tec's considerable experience in making micro fuel-cell systems for many years has been turned to advantage in making cost-effective PEM fuel-cell stacks for industrial, commercial and scientifc applications. Its stacks range in power from 10W to 5kW. Customisation for small-scale production is available. Contact us for a quotation.
PEM Electrolyser Stacks
h-tec's PEM electrolysers range in power-consumption from 20W to 20kW. Hydrogen output ranges from 5 litres per hour to 5Nm3/h (5 cubic metres at normal pressure, i.e., 5000l/h). Oxygen output ranges from 2.5 litres per hour to 2.5Nm3/h (2500l/hour). Price on application.
PEM Oxygen Generators
Output ranges from 10 millilitres per minute to 5 litres per minute. POA.
